STEVE CRAWFORD

Steve Crawford

"Undisputed World Record Holder..."

Magician Steve Crawford was pulled from a hat on July 4, 1959 in Ponca City, Oklahoma. He enetered the magical world of entertainment while only six years old by studying the art of magic at his local library. With the help of his teacher, Steve presented his first elementary school assembly while in the 5th grade.

Steve received acting scholarships to many colleges where he earned his Degrees in Speech and Theatre. Steve attended the following colleges:

  • Rose State College, Midwest City, OK - 2 Years
  • Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, OK - 1 Year
where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Speech and Theatre.
  • Oklahoma Baptist University, Shawnee, OK - 2 Years
  • Northern Oklahoma College, Tonkawa, OK - 1 Year
where he received his Associates Degree in Speech and Theatre.

After receiving a degree in Speech and Theatre, he began performing at comedy clubs, state fairs, amusement parks (Six Flags and Sea World), and rock concerts, including opening for Alice Cooper. Steve made a number of television appearances which led to a national television commercial and a national television program of his own, "The Magical Mystery Tour," which aired on Fox Television Network.

Steve is the undisputed world record holder (recognized by the International Brotherhood of Magicians) in speed escape from regulation handcuffs, which he demonstrates in a number of his shows. He was the winner of Nabisco's regional "Unlock the Magic" magician competition and won two other competitions. One of Steve's daredevil stunts was selected by magician Lance Burton for inclusion in his national television specials.

During his performances for corporate events, Steve enters to exciting music and an eye-popping razor blade act. When there are children in the audience, the opening act is used to instruct them not to duplicate dangerous acts they see on stage, TV, or at the circus.

Steve immediately begins to engage the audience's participation in a variety of comedy acts. He suspends a youngster in mid-air (when children are involved) by balancing their head on the edge of a chair. He steals watches and wallets from the adults and even chops off the head of someone in his comical yet spine-tingling guillotine act.

Animals are always a big hit in Steve's shows. His guests include:
  • Speedy Gonzalez - the World's Fastest Mouse

  • Presto - the Magic Rabbit Presto, the Magic Rabbit (trained to do physical tricks upon command)
  • Titanic - the Ferocious Man-Eating Guinea Pig."
Steve closes the show with a demonstration of his signature act-the world record escape from real police handcuffs, escaping in less than two seconds!

The highlights mentioned above are some of the acts Steve performs in a first visit to new events. Many of his additional acts are reserved for repeat engagements. Steve's shows have plenty of comedy for young audiences, yet maintains plenty of sophistication for the refined adult audience. This entertainer is guaranteed to please!
